ROAD DEVELOPMENT AGENCY

JOB OPPORTUNITY

The Road Development Agency (RDA) is a statutory body whose function is to plan, manage and coordinate the road network in the country. The Agency is responsible for care, planning, maintenance and construction of public roads in Zambia. It also regulates the maximum permissible weights on roads, conducts studies for the development, maintenance and improvement of the road network, and reviews design standards and classification.

The Agency wishes to fill up the following vacant positions:


CORPORATE SERVICES DIRECTORATE

1. PERSONAL ASSISTANT (3 POSITIONS) – HEAD OFFICE


Job Summary

Reporting to the respective Director/Head of Unit, the job holder will be responsible for performing secretarial/office management work. Key responsibilities will include:

a) Effective and efficient provision of secretarial services to Director/Head of Unit;
b) Receiving, placing, filtering and conveying telephone calls and tactfully screening visitors to the Director/Head of Unit;
c) Maintaining a reasonable supply of office stationery and other requisites;
d) Making internal and external travel and accommodation arrangements as and when required for the Director/Head of Unit so that valuable management time is not spent on these arrangements;
e) Maintaining a logical and systematic filing system (both physical and digital) for the office for ease retrieval of documents and reference to the documents/correspondence;
f) Making necessary schedules for meetings and coordination of appointments both internal and external;
g) Undertaking such other work as may be assigned by the Supervisor which is consistent with the nature of the job and its level of responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Full Grade 12 School Certificate;

  • Certificate or Diploma in Typing and Secretarial Management;

  • Shorthand speed of not less than 80 wpm; typing speed of not less than 55 wpm;

  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience;

  • Membership of Zambia Institute of Secretaries (ZIS) with a current practicing certificate.


SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point, etc;

  • Strong Communication abilities (both written and verbal);

  • Tactful and good advocacy skills;

  • Maintaining high level of integrity and confidentiality;

  • Good team player with strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills;

  • Must be innovative with good planning skills with emphasis on outcomes;

  • Ability to multitask and work with minimum supervision;

  • Excellent analytical skills;

  • Exceptional attention to detail;
