    CLEARING AND FORWARDING OFFICER – CHIRUNDU

    Purpose of Role:

    The Clearing Officer will work as part of a team in the clearing and forwarding company and function as a Customs Clearing Officer.

     

    Duties and Key Responsibilities

     

    1. Track shipments, update the database on arrival information, and ensure correct shipping documentation is in place in advance.
    2. Undertake all declaration and customs clearing procedures for imports and exports.
    3. Apply for IDFS (Import Declaration Forms).
    4. Advise management on the most appropriate course of action to resolve technical challenges in declaration and clearing operations.
    5. Manage bonds and handle cancellation procedures.
    6. Follow up correspondence between statutory bodies and other stakeholders.
    7. Obtain customs release for imports / exports and truck border consignments.
    8. Ensure the correct use of tariffs.
    9. Ensure accurate values are used during declaration to avoid penalties or losses.
    10. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with the customs office.
    11. Perform any other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor.

    Qualifications and Experience

    1. Full Grade 12 Certificate.
    2. Diploma or Degree in Clearing and Forwarding or a related field.
    3. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in clearing and forwarding (local imports, border clearing, and transit goods).
    4. Comprehensive knowledge of HS Codes and accuracy in classification.
    5. Knowledge of government procedures and customs laws relating to imports, exports, and transit goods (air, sea, and road freight)
    6. Must be a resident of Chirundu District or willing to relocate.
    7. Candidates aged 21-35 are encouraged to apply.
    8. Fluent in English.
