NISIR is looking for suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following positions:

1.0 Scientific Officer (Food Scientist), Lusaka
(3-year fixed term contract, renewable, depending on performance)

Academic Qualifications
PhD in Food Science, Nutrition and Human Nutrition.
Full Grade 12 Certificate or its equivalent.
Technical Skills
Strong background in food science research.
Experience with analytical techniques.
Professional Experience
At least 3 years of relevant research experience.
Proven track record of publications.
Experience in collaborative, multidisciplinary research projects.
Summary Job Description
The Job Purpose
To initiate and be responsible for research in their specific scientific field of expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, initiate, organise, and conduct scientific research studies.
Collect, analyse, and interpret data in your specialised area.
Adapt methods, techniques, and procedures to carry out assignments.
Make independent decisions in their specific fields.
Carry out national development-relevant scientific and/or industrial research in their area of specialisation.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to explore industrial applications of your specialised area.
Present research findings to stakeholders at conferences to support the Centre’s mission by engaging in outreach and knowledge transfer.

Qualifications
PhD in Environmental Science/Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), Hydrology.
Full Grade 12 Certificate or its equivalent.
Technical Skills
Strong background in water and environmental-related research.
Experience with analytical techniques relevant to your field.
Professional Experience
At least 3 years of relevant research experience.
Proven track record of publications.
Experience in collaborative, multidisciplinary research projects.

Knowledge of bioassays for evaluating the biological activity of natural products.

Qualifications

The Job Purpose
To be responsible for the management of the farm, support research, innovation, and sustainable farming practices aligned with national development goals.
Key Responsibilities
Apply scientific principles in animal breeding, nutrition, health, and farm management.
Conduct routine farm operations, including feeding, housing, and disease control.
Assist in extension services, advising farmers on best practices.
Support applied research projects in animal science.
Promote sustainable and ethical livestock production systems.
Administrative duties including record keeping of animal vaccination and other relevant records.
Manage material and other resources.

Qualifications

The Job Purpose
To support the execution of internal audit assignments by conducting basic audit tests, collecting and analysing audit data, and assisting in the preparation of audit reports in order to strengthen the Authority’s internal control systems.
Key Duties
Assists in planning and execution of internal audit assignments in order to support effective audit coverage.
Performs basic audit tests, reconciliations, and data analysis to ensure accuracy and reliability of audit evidence.
Prepares audit working papers, schedules, and summaries for review by the Internal Auditor.
Ensures compliance with audit documentation standards and internal control requirements.
Assists in follow-up activities by collecting evidence on the implementation of audit recommendations.
Participates in stock counts, cash counts, surprise checks, and other audit-related assignments as directed.
