EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
Nkana Mining and Mineral Processing Limited operates in Chambishi, Zambia. The company explores innovative processing and flotation techniques to improve copper recovery rates and extract concentrates from local slag.
The company seeks to employ a suitably qualified, experienced, and results-oriented individual to fill the position on a renewable fixed-term contract.
1.0 ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER X01
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain and support an effective and certified ISO 14001 environmental management system at the company.
Compliance and alignment with Nkana mining standards, including incident reporting, investigations and EMS manual requirements.
Be able to prepare the Environmental Project Brief (EPB) reports.
Analyse, interpret and report environmental monitoring data using approved environmental management platforms and reporting systems.
Accurate reporting of environmental incidents, non-conformances and observations is effectively tracked.
Ensure routine inspections to identify environmental risks, legal compliance and spearhead continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintaining accurate environmental documentation records and compliance with environmental obligations and permits.
Conduct and identify preventive actions to improve opportunities for environmental performance.
Promote awareness to employees and stakeholders for sustainable environmental practices.
Qualification and Experience Required:
Full Grade 12 Certificate.
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ).
Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in mining.
Understanding of Environmental Management Systems, particularly ISO 14001 and ZEMA compliance.
Skills Required:
Excellent management skills.
Strong leadership skills for motivating, goal setting and decision making.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strategic thinking for identifying trends and longer-term planning.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and environmental management systems is an advantage.
